Field Auditor Contractor Terms
Effective date: June 25, 2026 | Placeholder — full terms will be finalized with legal counsel before use.
Contractor Classification
Most Signal Retail field auditor opportunities are structured as independent contractor positions. Independent contractors set their own schedules, accept or decline assignments, and are responsible for their own equipment, transportation, and business expenses.
Independent contractor classification has specific legal and tax implications. Signal Retail does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice. Consult a qualified tax professional and attorney to understand your obligations and classification under applicable federal and state law.
Payment
Independent contractor payment rates are set per assignment type and will be disclosed before assignment acceptance. Signal Retail issues a 1099-NEC to contractors earning $600 or more in a calendar year. Contractors are responsible for self-employment taxes and all applicable federal, state, and local tax obligations. Signal Retail does not withhold taxes from contractor payments.
Assignment Volume
Signal Retail does not guarantee any minimum assignment volume to independent contractors. Assignment availability depends on client programs, geographic coverage needs, and auditor performance ratings.
Conduct Requirements
Field auditors are required to complete visits in accordance with Signal Retail’s Field Conduct SOP, maintain strict confidentiality regarding client identities and visit assignments, submit honest and accurate reports, and follow all evidence collection standards. Misrepresentation, fabrication, or conduct that violates the SOP will result in immediate removal from the network.
Confidentiality
Auditors may not disclose the identity of any Signal Retail client, the existence of any assignment, or any client data encountered during a visit. Confidentiality obligations survive termination of the contractor relationship.
No Employment Relationship
Nothing in these terms or in any individual contractor agreement creates an employment relationship. Independent contractors are not entitled to employee benefits, workers’ compensation (except as required by applicable state law), or other employment protections.
