How Signal Retail Operates. What We Will and Won't Do.

Field intelligence is only as valuable as the integrity of the process behind it. Signal Retail operates under strict conduct standards, evidence requirements, and language guidelines — because the companies we serve make real operational decisions based on what we document.

  • Enter stores as normal customers during regular operating hours
  • Complete structured observations using a client-specific checklist
  • Document store conditions with notes, timestamped entries, and photographs of conditions — not people
  • Make small qualifying purchases when required; keep receipts
  • Submit complete, evidence-backed reports through our QA process
  • Fix, correct, tag, reset, or interfere with store operations or displays
  • Record audio of any person at any time, under any circumstances
  • Photograph identifiable employees or customers
  • Enter stockrooms, employee areas, or any area not open to the general public
  • Represent themselves as corporate employees, inspectors, vendors, or officials
  • Provoke, test, or manufacture situations that would not otherwise exist
  • Accuse employees of wrongdoing or draw legal conclusions

Some Signal Retail services involve authorized store recovery or merchandising work. These visits require written client authorization specifying stores, scope, and permitted work. They are conducted by trained representatives who disclose their role to store management, and are limited strictly to the authorized scope.

Signal Retail reports describe what was observed. We use neutral, evidence-based language. Our reports are intelligence tools for your internal operations team. They are not legal documents, and they are not designed to support employment adverse action without an independent internal investigation.

We recommend that clients consult their legal, HR, or LP team before taking personnel action based solely on a Signal Retail report.
